Would it be possible to make a lower fat version of these very beautifully made creations?

    Reply by Lynn Dearlove
why lower fat? all the fats are essential fatty acids and you can eat them with enthusiasm especially as they are raw and have not been heat treated in any way. It is heat treated fats you need to cut out of your diet so dont worry about the ones in this recipe. Also apart from needing them for optimum health (low fat diets dont work) I think you will find you wont need to eat a lot to feel very satisfied for a long time. Enjoy your EFA's

I agree, all the fat from nuts and all give me a stomache ache. we only need about 10% total fat in our food. Often I am looking for a 'lite' alternative :-)

Beautiful, as always. I see you left the dates off the ingredients list. I will go back and check the video for qty but just so you know. How many? Also do you combine both the garlic and the garlic powder at the same time or do you add powder later?

Hi Russell, the bread looks great. However, what can I use instead of the psyllium? I will be substituting the flax for chia.

    Reply by russelljames
Hi Angie, psyllium is a very unique ingredient and is the only ingredient that will give you that sponginess in that recipe.

    Russell,

is that psyllium husks or psylium husks powder? in the film it looks like the powder. I have both and have used both..when i baked a sprouted bread i had to get WHOLE psylium husks, but for mousse and other recipes that need to be thicker, I use the powder. Help??

    Thanks so very much.

Hi Russell - very eager to make this recipe! I bought the husks by mistake. Can I assume I can just blitz the husks in the VitaMix and thereby have powder? (I've never used psyllium before..so no familiarity to bring to bear.)

    Hello

I was told that psyllium sucks away all the moisture & water from the bowels, & that raw foodists DO NOT use this ingredient.

Thanks for your reply to this.

    Reply by russelljames
Psyllium is very cleansing and as long as you're hydrated (which should always be the case) there won't be a problem with eating it. I've used it as a main ingredient in my 'shakes' during two 7 day cleanses and one 9 1/2 day cleanse, where I ate no solid foods, and found it to be of great benefit.

Yes it can (brazils would work), but probably your best bet would be to sprout some buckwheat and use that instead of the almonds.

    Reply by Denise
I didn't have enough almonds, so used half hazelnuts. I compare to how it would have been with all almonds, but even this way (1/2-1/2) the bread was very good, spongy. A bit of an "after-feel" in the mouth, but I think that's due to the psyllium. I'll definitely make it again!

I have seen recipes that call for dehydrating the sprouting buckwheat and then grinding that for the bread recipes. Would you suggest dehydrating and then grinding or just spouting the buckwheat?

Russell, thank you once again for your fine efforts and generosity in sending this out to the world. The quality is as superb as always and I feel so much gratitude to you.

I purchased your cheese eBook when it came out, but RL being what it is, I haven’t yet tried the recipes but things are better now and this bread clinched it for me and I’m going to try it out. Hippocrates advised us not to eat nut cheeses with grain breads and since I’ve followed that guideline have felt ever so much better when I eat sprouted/dried raw bread, but I’ve really missed all the bread and cheese combos, like pizza and such! But this bread does away with the issue! Now we can eat all the nut cheeses we want with this nut bread as a nut+nut combination such as this is just fine!! Thank you, thank you so much!! :o D

Just made the bread and it was waiting for me at 5am. Had to have a slice immediately. It is SO delicious and it is spongy for sure. Mine did not get that dark crust ring like yours. Love your videos!! They are so helpful and you explain in depth which I love! I made your falafel and hummus last week and your cashew cheese from your ebook (I bought the whole series – amazing!!) is a hit with everyone (even family members who have NO interest in health)!! My family members literally buy me all the ingredients so I can make it for everyone (parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents). They say they aren’t even eating it because it’s healthy, they’re eating it because it tastes BETTER than real cheese. So anyway, thank you thank you thank you. You are an inspiration!! :) Oh and I almost forgot – I made this garlic bread with the coconut meat and I couldn’t believe how spongy it was – like real bread!! :) My dad had been saying he could switch to 100% raw if only he could find a good substitute for bread – and he says you’ve done it. Thanks again Russell – you’re awesome!! :)
